Maya joins the Great Hong Kong Butterfly Count at Kowloon Park with her blue binoculars and green vest. She learns to tell apart different butterfly species and discovers why they matter as pollinators. But this year she counts far fewer butterflies than last year, and a volunteer explains that the park needs more nectar flowers and host plants. Maya feels sad but decides to act. At home, she plants a butterfly garden on her balcony with flowers and herbs. Weeks later, butterflies return to her garden, and she signs up for next year's count with hope.
