On the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Mei discovers that all the lanterns on Maple Lane are dark. The old lantern maker has left a riddle: 'Where the moon's tears fall, the light hides.' Mei uses her magnifying glass to observe clues: silver droplets on maple leaves, the pattern of the lanterns, and a trail of tiny paw prints. She reasons that the moon's tears are dew, which collects at the old well. There she finds a jar of lantern oil. She fills the lanterns and the festival begins, learning that patience and careful thinking solve any puzzle.
